Presentations, workshops and dialogues in 'urban arts' (breakdance, theater, circus) contribute to educating the Dutch youth to be youth leaders. The motto is: you cannot become a role model, you are one.

 

Development is usually dedicated to 'North helping South'. Now the roles are reversed: four professional youth leaders of the Guatemala project 'Sport is much more' share their methods and experience with youth in Amsterdam neighborhoods for two weeks.

 

As in Guatemala, combining the perception of youth with giving them responsibilities, creates iniitiatives for young people organized by young people. Doring this stimulates positive activities in the neigborhoods and improves the image of youth.

 

We are very proud that we have a collective show. The Muiderpoort Theater has opened its doors to residents and other parties. If it is a success, Todos and Muiderpoort will continue the method of Guatemala.

 

Urban Arts & Life is part of E-motive Oxfam Novib program and is realized in collaboration with the Muiderpoort Theater an Amsterdam welfare organizations.
