Playful learning is the issue.
Todos is known for its mirror method. Reusable waste is used to highlight social issues like poverty, education and health in an interactive way. With Cradle2Play, Todos goes to schools and clubs where students between 8 and 12 years old are informed of children's rights through learning and experiencing.
The theme 'right to play' is part of the perception of Dutch youngsters and raises a lot of recognition. The problems in the slums related to this theme are addressed. Todos believes that young people will think about their own behavior in playing when working with alternative materials. Moreover, creativitiy, imagination and the entrepreneurial spirit is encouraged.
The ingredients for succes and fun are work books about Brazil or Guatemala, the 10 basic rights of children, a short movie, making sports equipment or musical instruments of reusable waste, and play togehter.
In the project Cradle2Play older youth can be teachers. The group or class that collects the greatest amount for theri peers in the slums wins a prize. If more schools in the area are get involved, the project will conclude with a Play2Gether event.
